Is the Susanoo Shrine built in a location that is resistant to flood damage? We took a look at the enshrined deity and used satellite data to examine the city it is in.

In this article, we will be using the satellite data platform "Tellus" to look into a series of shrines called the Yasaka Shrines, which have both Buddhist and Shinto aspects to them. We will look specifically at their Hikawa sect which enshrines the deity Susanoo. Looking at Shrines From Space! Pretty Cool, Eh?

New release

【Now available at our Tellus Market!】It’s now possible to sell tools on Tellus! Increased browsing speed and new functions available on update.

The ability to sell tools has been introduced to the Tellus Market, which has only had free tools up until now. Browsing speeds are also faster than ever before, and it is far easier to compare and search for data thanks to our latest update. Now's the perfect chance to try out Tellus for those users who want to browse satellite data, or sell their very own tool on our platform.

Using Lightning Observation Data for Free! Learning About the Science Behind Different Types of Lightning

A long long time ago, lightning used to be feared. Even today, it still has a large impact on our everyday lives in the form of power outages and lightning surges. Lightning observation data allows us to understand when and where lightning will strike. Today, we will be looking into what causes lightning, and getting to learn how to use Tellus' lightning data.

Super-Resolution Processing of Satellite Images Using Sharp’s Deep Learning Model

Super-resolution is a technique to artificially raise the resolution of an image. Super-resolution is one of the hot topics in the field of machine learning, but what happens when you combine it with satellite imagery? We went to the Sharp Corporation Research and Development HQ, and asked the manager of the 3rd Research Team for Communication & Image Technology Laboratories, Tomohiro Ikai, and researcher, Eiichi Sasaki about the future of this technology.
